Imse Vimse Reusable Tampons Overview

Imse Vimse reusable tampons work just like a disposable tampon. They absorb well and are comfortable to use.

Choose between three different sizes to fit your needs depending on how heavy or light your flow is.

Sizing

  • Mini -Light Flow
  • Regular -Moderate Flow
  • Heavy- Heavy Flow

Box Size

There are 8 tampons per box.

Fabric

  • Imse Vimse tampons are made of 100% organically cultivated cotton.
  • Along with our other sanitary products, our cloth tampons are Oeko-Tex certified and free from chemicals!

How do I use them?

  • Boil the tampons before first use.
  • Roll the tampon, adjust how loose or tight you would like it to be. Finish by securing the cord around the tampon.
  • Insert the tampon just like you would a normal tampon.
  • Change your tampon every 4-5 hours or when the tampon is getting full and needs changing.

Washing

  • Rinse in cold water and keep in a wet bag.
  • Wash in a washing bag along with the rest of your laundry.
  • After washing the tampons, boil them in water for a few minutes to get rid of any washing powder residues.
  • Do not use any bleach or softener.

REMEMBER!

100% cotton, washable, reusable tampons can still cause TSS (toxic shock syndrome) just as store-bought disposable tampons can. Please remember to change them often!

So glad I discovered these

After having my son I really struggled with my mooncup, I tried a few but couldn't get used to them again so switched back to disposable tampons. I was so pleased when I discovered reusable tampons!

They are easy to use, initially I rolled them up and tied a knot to hold them together but I don't bother with the knot now as its easier to unwind them after removal without it.

I've had no problems cleaning them, but I am used to reusable nappies. I put them straight into a wet bag then do a rinse cycle before my wash cycle. I found rinsing them under the tap too messy. After the rinse cycle I add in normal clothes etc. I deliberately bought black so there's no issues with staining.

In terms of insertion its similar to using a non-applicatior disposable tampon so if you use those these will be fine.

These are super comfortable and really absorbent. As a swimmer I need something which allows me to go swimming with peace of mind. I've recently struggled with the comfort of cups and so reusable tampons have been an absolute saving grace for me. Comfort wise I love them. Honestly never felt it once inside. Because they are soft I would say even more comfortable than disposable solid tampons too. These are really absorbent and I want to say it reduces blood loss somehow (no scientific evidence) but it didn't seem as saturated as if I wore a cup or disposable tampon in comparison. No leaks. First time I used them I did the string too short which was frustrating to remove, however second time onwards no problems whatsoever. Came out swimmingly, and really comfortably. Again a huge positive particularly if someone struggles with cup removal (there are articles on TPL though to help if you want).
Being absolutely honest in my review, these tampons do stain which is my only issue with them. They really should be black or another colour which isn't white. I washed as per the period lady washing instructions.
It also has the potential to have the ick factor similar to that of cups for those who dislike menstrual fluid in that you remove it and will need to unravel to rinse and touch (as a midwife this does not phase me in the slightest, but I do know some people this might do). If you keep it together (I did one each way) and Cold rinse and wash it doesn't remove stains or clean as well, so definitely unravel before washing. But both ways washing stained for me. Again not something I am bothered about, particularly as these will last for up to 10 years and they will only be for my own use.
