Me Luna Small Menstrual Pads Overview

Me Luna small menstrual pads are ideal for your light flow days.  What I love about Me Luna pads is that they are very slim,  I can comfortably wear these any day and forget i've got one in.    Meluna small pads can also be used for light incontinence and i'm comfortable wearing these on a run as they aren't thick or bulky.

Meluna menstrual pads like the whole of the Me Luna range offer fantastic value for money but they do not compromise on quality.

The backing of the pad isn't slippery so the pads don't move around in your underwear but stay in position.  Me Luna pads are worn with the black layer against your skin so there is no need to worry about any stains. There is not a staydry layer with these pads but as they are for light absorbency this is not usually an issue.

Size

Meluna small menstrual pads fasten around your underwear by poppers. There are two popper options so you can alter the width of the wings to accommodate different sizes of gusset.  The width of the main pad is 7cm and the overall length is 20cm, see our diagram in the photos for the size dimensions.

Fabric

Me Luna pads are made with 90% cotton and 10% polyester which is the waterproof layer on the back.

Care

After use, it is recommended to rinse the pads thoroughly with COLD water first. By washing in cold water, you can prevent blood stains.

Wash your cloth pads either by hand or in the washing machine (delicate wash, wool wash) up to 40 ° C.

  • If you put your pads in the tumble dryer: please only in low setting for a short time! The pads may become slightly smaller in the dryer.
  • Ironing level 1 (personally I've dried mine flat and have never ironed them ever!)
  • Please do not use bleach.

Pads FAQ's

How many pads do I need?

As a general guide for a:

  • short and light cycle 6 daytime and 3 night time
  • Average length and flow 10 day pads and 4-5 night pads
  • Longer and heavier cycles 15 day pads and 6-7 night time pads.

How To Wash Cloth Pads

Washing reusable cloth pads in the washing machine is the most effective way to care for your pads

Here is a basic guide to wash pads:

  1. When you remove your used pads rinse them thoroughly with cold water till the water runs clear. You can gently rub them to help remove as much blood as possible.
  2. Either pop them in your normal washing with other clothes or store them in a wet bag until wash day.
  3. Wash on a cold wash at either 30 or 40deg. You can use your normal detergent but avoid fabric softener.

Most companies will advise you to avoid harsh chemicals, fabric conditioner and tumble drying, as eventually it will lead to a shorter life span and issues with performance.

How To Dry Reusable Sanitary Pads

Ideally air dry your cloth sanitary pads and avoid using a tumble dryer. This helps to keep your reusable pads in better condition and is more environmentally friendly. A “sock” airer is ideal for drying them and can be hung inside in winter for quick drying. Most pads will easily dry overnight. Some pads can be tumble-dried, but this should be done on low and is best avoided as tumble drying can shrink some fabrics and remove fibres (that’s what the fluff is in the filter.)

How long will my pads last until I need to buy more to replace them?

As a general rule our suppliers expect their pads to last 5-10 years with average wear.
